If you need a computer, ask us for one.
We repair donated laptops, tablets and phones and pass them on for free. There is no cost, no loan to repay, and nothing to give back. If we have a machine that fits what you need, it’s yours.
How it works
Tell us what you need it for
Six questions, about two minutes. We ask what you’d use a device for so we can match the right machine — not so you can justify wanting one.
We reply within a week
Either way. If we don’t have anything suitable we’ll say so plainly and keep you on the list, rather than leaving you wondering.
You collect it, set up and working
Every machine is wiped, has a fresh operating system, and boots before it leaves us. We’ll show you how to get started if that’s useful.
Who can ask
TODO — eligibility rule not yet decided
docs/CONTENT.md lists this page as “hub + eligibility” but doesn’t say what the eligibility rule is, and it isn’t in docs/SPEC.md either. Decide it, then replace this block. Do not ship the page with this notice still on it.
In the meantime: we’re a small student project and we have more requests than machines. We prioritise people who need a device for school or for work and don’t have another way to get one. Ask anyway — the worst answer is no.
Referrals
We’re still setting up our first referral partners.
The plan is a short list of schools, libraries and senior centres who know us well enough to refer someone directly. We’ll name them here once those are agreed.
Not having one yet doesn’t affect your request. Anyone can ask us directly — a referral is a shortcut, never a requirement.
If you work at a school, library or senior centre and want to refer someone, get in touch rather than using the form — it’s easier for both of us if we talk first.
What you can expect
- A machine that works, with the drive wiped and a current operating system on it.
- A charger. We don’t hand over a laptop you can’t power.
- An honest description of its condition and age before you decide whether you want it.
What we can’t promise is a new machine, a specific model, or a warranty. These are donated devices that someone else finished with, repaired by students.
